I'm not registered with you - can I still come?

Yes - you don't need to be registered with us to get an emergency appointment. Private emergency appointments start from £85 (£99 if a prescription is needed) and can be booked online. NHS emergency appointments can't be booked online at the moment - call us on 0131 228 2442 and we'll fit you in.

How quickly can I be seen?

We keep same-day emergency appointments and we're open until 8pm Monday to Thursday - later than most Edinburgh practices - and until 5pm on Friday. Call us as early in the day as you can and we'll do our best to see you the same day.

What counts as a dental emergency?

Severe toothache, swelling, a broken or knocked-out tooth, a lost crown or filling, or bleeding that won't stop. If you're not sure whether it's an emergency, call us - we'll tell you honestly whether you need to be seen today.

How much does an emergency appointment cost?

A private emergency appointment starts from £85, or £99 if a prescription is needed. If any treatment is needed beyond the appointment itself, we'll give you a quote before anything is done - no surprises.

What should I do while I wait to be seen?

Call us first on 0131 228 2442 and we'll advise you on the phone. If we're closed and it can't wait, phone NHS 24 on 111 - they handle urgent dental problems out of hours. If you have severe facial swelling affecting your breathing or swallowing, go to A&E.

Is there parking at the practice?

Yes - the Princes Exchange Car Park is in our own building, accessed from Riego Street at the rear (9/2 Riego Street, EH3 9BL). Parking is payable: £3 for 1 hour, or £5 for up to 3 hours. The car park opens at 9:30am, so if you are driving to an earlier appointment we suggest street parking nearby. Blue Badge holders can park free on Fountainbridge, and we are a short walk from Haymarket Station.
