What does a private examination cost?

A new patient private examination is £85, including x-rays - the full price list is published on our pricing page, so you'll never meet a surprise number. Any treatment is quoted in writing before it's done.

What do I get privately that I don't get on the NHS?

Time and choice, mainly. Private appointments are longer, giving more time for discussion and prevention, and they open up treatments the NHS doesn't fund - teeth whitening, composite bonding, veneers, Invisalign and dental implants - along with a wider choice of materials for things like white fillings.

Do I have to choose between NHS and private?

No - in Scotland you are entitled to mix NHS and private dentistry in a hybrid treatment plan. Many of our patients keep routine care on the NHS and choose private options where it matters to them. We'll always tell you what NHS Scotland covers and what you could choose privately alongside it.

Can I spread the cost of private treatment?

Yes - 0% finance is available on treatment plans from £250 up to £5,000, over 2 to 12 months, with part-financing above £5,000. There are also Practice Plan memberships that bundle routine private care into a monthly amount.

How quickly can I be seen?

Appointments are readily bookable online - choose a time that suits you, including evenings until 8pm Monday to Thursday. For urgent problems we offer same-day emergency appointments.

Is there parking at the practice?

Yes - the Princes Exchange Car Park is in our own building, accessed from Riego Street at the rear (9/2 Riego Street, EH3 9BL). Parking is payable: £3 for 1 hour, or £5 for up to 3 hours. The car park opens at 9:30am, so if you are driving to an earlier appointment we suggest street parking nearby. Blue Badge holders can park free on Fountainbridge, and we are a short walk from Haymarket Station.

Spreading the cost

Private dentistry shouldn’t mean a lump sum. Treatment plans from £250 up to £5,000 can be spread over 2 to 12 months at 0% interest — as an example, Invisalign Lite at £1,900 over 12 months works out at around £158 a month. Plans above £5,000 can be part-financed.
