At City Dental Care, we offer comprehensive NHS dental care to maintain your oral health. Whether you need a routine check-up or urgent care, we dedicate ourselves to providing top-quality treatment with transparency and affordability. The NHS provides all treatment necessary to secure and maintain your oral health. There are some treatments (mainly cosmetic) which are not available under the NHS, and you may choose to have these privately.

City Dental Care offers both NHS and private dental treatments in Edinburgh. NHS charges are set by NHS Scotland for each item of treatment, and private charges are provided upfront with a detailed estimate. We also offer emergency dental care during regular hours for urgent issues like tooth extractions and fillings. For an NHS emergency, call 0131 228 2442. An NHS emergency visit ("unscheduled care") costs £17.32 on the NHS Scotland fee scale from 1 November 2025. That covers the assessment and the emergency treatment itself, such as a dressing, draining an abscess or re-cementing a crown; X-rays and any further treatment, such as an extraction, are charged on top at NHS rates. If you're under 26 or exempt from NHS charges, there's no charge: the NHS covers the fees for you.
NHS registration is required for NHS services. Our list is open, so anyone looking for an NHS dentist in Edinburgh can register with us and book a first examination online. Please give 24 hours' notice for cancellations to avoid any charges. Repeated failure to attend or short-notice cancellations may result in registration termination.
